Agency Overview
Community Development Council Durham, formerly known as the Social Development Council of Ajax-Pickering, a not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1970, provides a wide range of programs to the general public across the entire Region.

The Council's key role is to support the regional community by effectively responding to emerging social issues by encouraging the community to collaborate in identifying gaps in service through research and building on existing community assets within the Region to develop strategies to address those gaps.

Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, Community Development Council Durham has an extensive history of successful partnerships with the public and private sector, including all levels of government.

The Community Development Council Durham has demonstrated its ability to provide services to the local residents, earning the trust of the communities it serves. The Council has been proactive in advocating for change and/or services to better meet the increasingly diverse needs of the Durham Region's growing population.

Our Funders
Community Development Council Durham would like to pay special tribute to all of our funders whose ongoing support, both in cash and in kind, is helping us provide services that significantly improve the quality of life in the communities of Durham.

The Agency gratefully acknowledges funding from United Way of Ajax-Pickering-Uxbridge, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, Regional Municipality of Durham, Peterborough Family Resource Centre, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and the Ministry of Health Promotion.
